Porcelain fillings and crowns have been proven to add strength and beauty to aging teeth. Their life-like appearance and enduring shine makes a mouth appear clean and untouched.
Porcelain fillings are most conservative in that they only replace the existing mercury amalgam fillings (silver fillings) which conserve the remaining tooth structure.
Porcelain crowns are necessary when the mercury amalgam fillings are excessively large or if tooth fractures exist.
A systematic plan to upgrade old fillings also creates an environment to keep teeth and gums healthy.
